ConfigVault™ and the Continuing Evolution of Mutiny V8

Since the launch of Mutiny V8, development has continued at pace with a strong focus on visibility, operational resilience, performance and simplified management.

This latest update introduces one of our most significant new platform additions: ConfigVault™, alongside major improvements to topology discovery, IPAM visualisation, remote support capabilities and overall platform performance.

Below is a summary of the latest developments across the Mutiny platform.

🔐 Introducing ConfigVault™

Mutiny Version 8.1 introduces ConfigVault™, a new configuration backup and retrieval system designed to simplify auditing, troubleshooting and disaster recovery.

ConfigVault automatically retrieves and securely stores configuration files from supported devices, allowing administrators to:

• View configuration history
• Download backups on demand
• Track changes over time
• Improve operational resilience
• Strengthen disaster recovery preparedness

ConfigVault has been designed with security in mind and forms part of a broader secure credential and configuration management framework planned for future Mutiny development.

🌍 Tailscale Support

We are excited to announce official support for Tailscale within Mutiny.

This integration enables secure remote access and monitoring across distributed environments using the Tailscale network.

Additionally, customers can choose to grant temporary Mutiny support access, allowing our engineers to assist with troubleshooting and diagnostics remotely when required.

This provides a fast and secure method of resolving complex issues without exposing management interfaces publicly.

☁️ Introducing Mutiny Assured™

Alongside the continued evolution of the Mutiny platform, we are also expanding our support and service offerings with Mutiny Assured™ — our new co-managed monitoring service.

Mutiny Assured™ gives customers direct access to the Mutiny team for ongoing assistance with:

• Monitoring optimisation
• Alert tuning
• Dashboard configuration
• Device onboarding
• Operational reviews and best practice guidance

Combined with the new integrated Tailscale support, customers can optionally grant secure remote access for troubleshooting and support when required.

Mutiny Assured™ is designed to help organisations get maximum value from their monitoring platform while reducing operational overhead.

🗺️ Expanded IPAM Topology Features

Mutiny V8 continues to expand its Layer 2 discovery and topology capabilities.

Recent additions include:

• IPAM Topology Maps
• Network filtering within topology views
• Search functionality for topology maps
• IPAM Connections Tables
• Automatic parent discovery using topology data
• View-based topology connection APIs

These tools provide clearer visibility into how infrastructure is physically interconnected, helping identify undocumented links, dependency chains and potential single points of failure.

⚡ Performance & Scalability Improvements

Significant engineering effort has gone into enhancing the performance and scalability of larger installations.

Recent enhancements include:

• Faster startup times
• Reduced polling load on SNMP devices
• Improved database monitoring and optimisation
• Maintenance handling for large DB indexes
• Faster Smart View and Open Events performance
• Improved RRD preparation and backup handling
• Improvements to Peak Traffic Reduction within the polling engine
• Additional database resource optimisation

We have also migrated database connection pooling to HikariCP to further improve efficiency and scalability.

🛡️ Enhanced Monitoring & Reliability

Mutiny continues to improve reliability and operational awareness across the platform.

Recent additions include:

• Monitoring and alerting for critical Mutiny appliance conditions
• Improved tracking of Nodes by DNS and MAC address
• Improved interface polling reliability
• Enhanced handling of non-compliant SNMP devices
• Improved WinRM stability and performance
• Improved handling of incorrect SNMP responses

WinRM monitoring has now fully moved out of beta and is considered production ready.

🖥️ Expanded Device Support

Support has been expanded for a range of additional devices and systems, including:

• Xerox VersaLink C415
• NEC VT projectors
• Sony SMS UPS systems
• Dell iDRAC improvements
• HPE/Aruba 3800 switch stacks
• Enhanced projector and UPS monitoring

We have also added a standard printer status agent for simplified printer monitoring deployments.

🎨 Interface & User Experience Improvements

Mutiny V8 continues to refine the day-to-day user experience with:

• Improved Dark Mode compatibility
• New Wallboard style options
• Published View URL regeneration
• Improved Node icon title styling
• Introductory tours for new users
• Customisable topology and discovery views
• Load and Save support for IPAM filter sets

These refinements aim to make larger environments easier to navigate and manage efficiently.

🔗 API & Integration Improvements

Several additional API endpoints have been introduced to support integrations and automation workflows.

Recent additions include:

• Global status summary API endpoint
• IPAM network retrieval endpoints
• IPAM topology connection endpoints
• API support for deleting discovered IPAM connections
• View APIs for topology relationship data

OAuth2 support for API alerting also remains available for secure integration into modern SaaS and ITSM platforms.

🔭 Next Up: Syslog Monitoring & Alerting

Development continues across the Mutiny platform, and one of the next major areas of focus will be enhanced Syslog monitoring and alerting capabilities.

This upcoming functionality will allow Mutiny to receive, process and generate alerts from Syslog events across network infrastructure, servers and connected systems.

The goal is to provide customers with improved real-time operational visibility alongside the existing polling, SNMP Trap and monitoring capabilities already within the platform.

Further details will be announced in upcoming releases.
