No ETH1???

Question regarding initial configuration

No ETH1???

Postby ianroberts » Fri May 28, 2010 10:04 am

Having installed VMWare Player & the Virtual Appliance I only see ETH0? Needing to communicate with 2 IP ranges (1 for switches, printers etc.) & 1 for workstations am I right in thinking that I need ETH1 as well to which an appropriate IP can be set? Sorry if this makes no sense as I have no experience of virtualisation or linux for that matter.

Your correct. the player image is normally used for testing and trialing the product a nd has only been compiled with a single NIC.

If you build a virtual appliance with the full appliance image and you configure the VM to have 2 nics then Mutiny will have an EH0 & ETH1 than can both be configured in the Network Settings control panel.

That depends on what you are hosting the appliance on?

If you are running Mutiny in a production environment and need multiple Nics then you should consider running Mutiny as a hardware appliance or Virtual machine on VMware server Hyper V or Zen etc.

The downloadable .iso can build various hardwre like a spare desktop you may have etc.
We also supply a rackmount server appliace at the very reasonable cost of £810
