Mutiny Develops A Spring Relationship With IBM

Network monitoring specialists, Mutiny Ltd, are delighted to announce IBM as a new hardware Business Partner.

From March 2006 Mutiny Ltd will be integrating their Critical Service Monitoring software package into the IBM BladeCentre* and X Series* servers.

Born out of Manchester University, Mutiny is the only appliance based Critical Services Monitor specialising in monitoring networks and the services they run.  Over the past four years ‘Mutiny’ software has developed and evolved due to client needs and the technological advances in IT.

In order to increase its sales in Linux based operating systems (BladeCentre and X Series Servers), IBM has invested in a series of programmes with Software Providers to source IT companies who can provide the perfect software to compliment both existing, and new, IBM hardware applications.

Dudley Moor Radford, Commercial Director at Mutiny says: “With successful installations already made on IBM’s Standard X series, there is an opportunity to deliver high performance unit based software on IBM’s ‘blade technology’."

"One of the key benefits of using Mutiny in business is that it is a browser based Critical Services Monitor; the software has been built with the user in mind. Mutiny uses a Graphical User Interface which is web-based and consistent in operation, therefore minimising the need for regular training - it’s a simple cost effective solution for companies."

"The idea of incorporating the Mutiny system into the BladeCentre and X Series servers in particular is that a business is able to control its IT resource, thus saving time and money by server consolidation.  Mutiny can predict failures and identify problems which prevent unscheduled ‘downtime’."

“The IBM association with Mutiny Ltd will create a network of resellers that will bring mainstream network service monitoring to the forefront of application technology.”

Continues Dudley: “In addition to its core functionality, Mutiny will bring ‘blade’ propositions that add value by being able to maintain the performance of the blade server applications.”

2.     Mutiny traces its origins back to the University of Manchester where it was used to monitor services on the SuperJANET network. The company “Mutiny Limited” was spun out in 2001 to commercialise the product, which was formally launched in June 2002 at the Networks Telecom Exhibition. Mutiny’s unique selling point is that it is the only SNMP-based Network-Monitoring appliance, designed with ease-of-use as the most important feature. This means that it can be rapidly deployed on almost all types of network by people who require no specialist training.

Current Mutiny clients include: The Football Association, Red Bull Racing Team, Endsleigh Insurance and Focus DIY to name but a few.
